The Falagueira is one of the oldest population centres of the Amadora, as evidenced by some islands of traditional architecture of the Saloia region, as is the case of what remains of the old village of Falagueira.

The history of Falagueira was linked to the communication network before the construction of the railway, with the appearance, in Porcalhota, of support services to the circulation, in the place of the junction of the current Rua Elias Garcia (old Sintra road or Estrada Real) and Estrada da Falagueira. Thus, for example, the Chafariz da Porcalhota and the old Pedro dos Coelhos, a pasture house mentioned by Eça de Queirós in the book "Os Maias", were built. 

The territory of Venda Nova belonged to the parish of Benfica until it was amputated, in 1886, from the outer part of the new Lisbon Ring Road. The road became the fiscal limit of the capital, embodied with the construction of the Portas de Benfica, a post where the tax guard collected taxes for goods entering Lisbon from neighbouring municipalities.
